Treatments > Foods to Avoid

If you have braces it is important to avoid certain foods. We recommend avoiding sugary and starchy foods because they increase your risk for cavities and also cause white marks on your teeth. Sugary and starchy foods generate plaque and that can cause tooth decay and gum disease.

You will need to avoid sticky, chewy and hard foods because they will damage your brackets and wires. Each time you damage a bracket or wire it increases your treatment time.

If you are careful with what you eat during treatment you are more likely get your braces off on time - maybe ever sooner then expected!
